Price and cost of ownership of Agilent 8890 GC

Investing in an Agilent 8890 GC requires careful consideration of both the purchase price and long-term ownership costs. A new system costs approximately $51,500, while a refurbished unit with a warranty averages $35,000, offering substantial savings. Beyond the initial investment, ongoing expenses include consumables such as columns, septa, liners, syringes, and carrier gases like helium, hydrogen, or nitrogen, as well as regular maintenance to ensure precise and reliable results. Additional costs may include software licenses, updates, and compliance fees, particularly in regulated industries like environmental analysis, food safety, and pharmaceuticals. Long-term ownership also involves potential service and repair costs, which can be significant if components like the detector, autosampler, or electronic pneumatics control (EPC) system require replacement. A certified refurbished Agilent 8890 GC provides a cost-effective alternative while maintaining dependable performance, as it undergoes comprehensive testing and comes with a warranty. For laboratories seeking to maximize their budget, balancing the upfront purchase price with ongoing operational costs is essential for long-term financial efficiency.
